Offshore wind energy is a key technology for an effective and timely transformation of our energy system, as well as for ensuring the competitiveness and resilience of the Polish economy. The so-called phase II of the development of Polish wind farms in the Baltic Sea is one of the key topics that will be addressed by government representatives, decision-makers and leaders of the OWE sector during the Offshore Wind Poland 2024 conference.
Those who have already confirmed their attendance include Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek, Łukasz Koliński, Head of the RES Policy and Energy Systems Integration Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, as well as Miłosz Motyka, Deputy Minister for Climate, Minister Jacek Bartmiński from MAP, or Małgosia Bartosik, Vice President of WindEurope.
What will the participants of Offshore Wind Poland 2024 discuss? First of all, about the key challenges and necessary changes that will ensure a dynamic and competitive development of the offshore market. The current state of construction of Phase I projects will be presented, as well as information on offshore auctions in Phase II. Conference participants will learn about the participation of local content in OWF investments, the development of cross-border networks and ways to attract personnel for the sector.
The energy potential of the Polish part of the Baltic Sea is considered to be one of the largest in Europe, reaching up to 33 GW. Its utilisation would allow almost 60 per cent of the country’s electricity needs to be met. This means that, in the coming years, offshore wind will become a significant developmental stimulus for the Polish economy, with appropriate use of the national potential of Polish suppliers and the highest possible level of local content.
The Offshore Wind Poland 2024 conference is the largest industry event in Poland dedicated to offshore wind energy, which will already take place on 20-21 November at the Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw.
