Tenth vessel launched in Gdansk by Danish shipyard

On Saturday 15 February, the partially equipped hull of a fishing vessel for a Norwegian shipowner was launched at Karstensen Shipyard Poland in Gdansk.
The Hargun is another trawler being built at the Polish company’s Gdansk facility to an order from Danish shipyard Karstensens Skibsvaerft A/S.
The Norwegian shipowner has ordered an 83-metre-long combined snurper/trawler from the yard, equipped with Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) holds.
The vessel is designed to catch pelagic (open water) fish such as mackerel and herring for consumption. On this type of vessel, fishermen can also catch other species for the production of fishmeal as a feed ingredient.
-The launched hull is partially equipped. There is no superstructure yet, which will take about six weeks to assemble. However, the main components such as the two main engines, gearboxes, shaft generators and propeller shaft are already on board. The launched hull also has part of the cooling system,’ says Bartłomiej Kopczewski, deputy director of Karstensen Shipyard Poland.
The next stage will be towing the vessel launched in Gdansk to the shipyard Karstensens Skibsvaerft A/S in Skagen, where the vessel will be further equipped and finally handed over to the ordering party.
As a reminder, on 24 January this year, the partially equipped hull of the Rogne trawler with side number M-100-HØ for the Norwegian shipowner Rogne AS was launched from slipway B-3.
Main dimensions of the vessel:
length: 83 m
width: 17 m
draught max: 7.45m
tonnage: 4,000 GT
hold volume: 2700 m3
