RADIOLEX: Modular installation of navigation bridges on ships and vessels

RADIOLEX, a company based in Gdansk, Poland, has introduced an innovative MBC system – modular bridge construction for ships and vessels. The product is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Radiolex is a manufacturer of control cabinets, low and medium voltage electrical switchboards, desktops and control panels. In the wide offer of the company, which provides solutions for such industries as: automatics, marine and mining industry, there are devices such as e.g. for explosion-hazardous zones and devices controlling the climate in cabinets, i.e. air-conditioners, ventilation and heating systems.

Now, the company offers another breakthrough device – an innovative MBC system (Modular Bridge Consoles), i.e. modular construction of navigation bridges on ships and vessels.

MBC consists of a dozen or so modules in various sizes, which enable the composition of both navigation bridges and dispatcher’s spaces.

According to Radiolex representatives, the modularity of the system is a great advantage, allowing to shape the appearance of the target console in any way.

– In addition, we save time on designing dedicated solutions, we can replace individual modules on site (e.g. in case of the need to change the monitor for a larger one, it is enough to order only the extension, not the whole set). An important issue is also the fact that at the stage of construction or repair of the ship there are usually limited sizes of the passage. It is usually a problem to put the whole console on the bridge, and thanks to modularity it can be brought in parts, Radiolex informs.

The MBC system catalog has been designed individually, and individual modules are available in several sizes. In the offer there are MBC-P – Base with cover and MBC-PK – Base with cassette, i.e. vertical assembly modules of the console base, constituting a shaft on which the screen panel is placed and the desktop is attached; MBC-CS – lower console module, used for setting the base at an appropriate height; MBC-PE – upper console module, used for mounting the screen; MBC-PO – a module that attaches to the screen panel, used for installation of a keyboard, buttons or indicators; MBC-MS – a stand-alone helm module, used for freestanding or serial setup; MBC-MPB – an optional accessory to complement console sets; and MBC-KS – a stand-alone module for ceiling suspension on a bridge.

The product was created as a result of a professional design process in connection with the implementation of the project No. POIR.02.03.05-22-0007/19 entitled “Increase in the competitiveness of Radiolex Company as a result of developing a new design project and implementing a significantly improved product” under Priority Axis 2 Support for the environment and business potential for R&D&I, Sub-measure 2.3.5 Design for entrepreneurs Operational Programme Intelligent Development 2014-2020 co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
