Poland may soon produce energy transformers for the offshore power industry on its own

There are many indications that transformers will be produced exclusively by Polish forces at the Gdansk Shipyard, announced the President of the Board of the Industrial Development Agency S.A. Michał Dąbrowski during the 2nd Distributed Energy Congress in Kraków.

The event focuses on the local dimension of the energy transition and tightening cooperation between its main stakeholders: business communities, academia, NGOs and central and local government administration. The essence of distributed energy is the deconcentration of sources – locating them in multiple locations.

– We will manufacture transformers at the Gdansk Shipyard, a company in the IDA Group. We are trying to ensure that the equipment is made entirely with Polish resources, knowledge and labour – from design, through production, to the final product,’ said Michał Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of the IDA S.A., during a panel entitled “Determinants and opportunities for the implementation of Poland’s energy policy – a discussion among representatives of transformation stakeholders”.

– In order to build a fully Polish transformer now, we need to accelerate very strongly,’ noted Michał Dąbrowski.

The President of the Management Board of the ARP S.A. also referred to the wind tower factory being built in Gdańsk. He emphasised that it will play a significant role in offshore wind energy. The investment is being carried out by Baltic Towers, a company created as a result of cooperation between ARP S.A. and the Spanish company GRI Renewable Industries, S.L.
