ORP Mewa minehunter on sea trials

On the fourteenth of December 2021, Remontowa Shipbuilding began sea trials of the MCMV ORP Mewa.
The first stage was scheduled for the seventeenth of December. It included tests of the navigation system and propulsion. The second stage has been planned to be held after the New Year. The sea trials are attended by representatives of the Ordering Party, service technicians and a group of employees of the shipyard.
ORP Mewa is the third minehunter being built for the Polish Navy and the second in a series, following ORP Albatros, ordered in December 2017 by the Armament Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defence.
The initial prototype MCMV – ORP Kormoran – was delivered to the Ordering Party in 2017.
The first ship of the two ordered in 2017 – ORP Albatros – has already completed sea trials with specialists from Ośrodek Badawczo Rozwojowy Centum Techniki Morskiej (OBR CTM) SA in terms of verification of the integrated combat system.
The ORP Albatros and ORP Mewa mine countermeasure vessels are being built by a consortium with Remontowa Shipbuilding SA as a leader, comprising OBR CTM SA and PGZ Stocznia Wojenna (Naval Shipyard).
