No chance of unblocking Ukrainian ports by the end of the war

There is no prospect of Ukrainian ports being unblocked by the end of the war with Russia, advisor to Ukraine’s interior minister Vadym Denysenko assessed in an interview with Espreso TV on Thursday.

The prospects for opening Ukrainian ports by the end of the war with Russia are not there. We must realise that the Odessa ports will not be opened as long as the Russians block the Black Sea, Denysenko stated.

In his opinion, the Russians are causing hunger in the world in order to trigger a migration crisis in the European Union.

At the same time, Denysenko stressed that Russian forces do not currently have the ability to disembark in the Odessa region, as the Ukrainian military has sunk the missile cruiser Moskva and destroyed Russian forces on Snake Island. The cruiser, which was sunk in April, contained anti-aircraft systems important for covering the aggressor’s forces in the Black Sea.

Ukraine is one of the world’s largest exporters of grain, shipped mainly by sea. Millions of tonnes of grain are currently stored in ports on the Black Sea coast, blockaded by Russian warships.
