New Shipping Connections at Baltic Hub
Baltic Hub announced the launch of new shipping services that will begin regular calls to the terminal in Gdańsk at the turn of March and April.
By the end of March, Baltic Hub will start receiving two weekly services from Maersk within the newly created Gemini Cooperation alliance. From the beginning of April, two weekly services from Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) will commence.
“The new shipping routes will further strengthen Baltic Hub’s role as a strategic logistics hub in the region,” emphasizes Katarzyna Frankiewicz from Baltic Hub.
The first of the new services is a result of the Gemini cooperation between Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, under which a new network of ocean and shuttle connections has been operating since February 1, 2025.
As Katarzyna Frankiewicz from Baltic Hub explained, within this alliance, Maersk launched two weekly shuttle services to Baltic Hub, connecting Gdańsk with German ports in Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven. The first ship from this network – Api Bhum, a 294-meter vessel – will call at the terminal on March 25, 2025.
“At the beginning of April, MSC will expand its presence in Baltic Hub, incorporating the terminal into two Asia-Europe services: Britannia and Albatros. The first vessel under the Britannia service – MSC Rose (364 m long) – will call at Gdańsk on April 3, while MSC Maura (366 m long) under the Albatros service will arrive on April 16, 2025,” adds Frankiewicz.
In addition to the announced novelties, Baltic Hub will continue to serve regular calls within the long-standing AEU1/LL1/FAL5/NE1 services operated by the OCEAN ALLIANCE (CMA CGM, OOCL, COSCO, Evergreen) and the FAL1 service operated by CMA CGM.
The new ocean services will be handled at Terminal T3 using new shore-to-shore cranes (STS). The T3 investment was created on a 36-hectare water-built area, connected to the currently functioning infrastructure (terminals 1 and 2).
Upon complete completion of works, planned for the end of 2025, T3 will increase Baltic Hub’s handling capacity by 1.5 million TEU annually – to a level of 4.5 million TEU – which will strengthen the terminal’s position as one of the largest container hubs in Europe.
“Through the T3 investment, we offer increased operational capabilities, which opens new perspectives for our clients and contributes to trade development in Central and Eastern Europe. The new shipping connections and expansion of cooperation with global shipowners drive us towards continuous, sustainable development and operational excellence while maintaining the highest safety standards,” says Jan van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub.
