Integrated border control point to be created at Gdansk seaport

An integrated border control point will be built in the area of the seaport in Gdańsk. The decision to finance the construction and provide a PLN 3.5 million grant for the execution of the documentation was issued by the Ministry of Finance, the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office announced on Wednesday.

In a communiqué sent on Wednesday, it was announced that the Ministry of Finance, at the request of Pomeranian Voivode Dariusz Drelich, issued a decision to finance the construction of an integrated border control point on the territory of the seaport at Kontenerowa Street in Gdansk.

The communication indicates that the subsidy of PLN 3.5 million will be allocated for the completion of design and cost-estimate documentation.

– Currently, the premises for the inspections carrying out border controls are scattered. The new facility for the service – with the large and growing DCT container terminal – will result in smoother inspections of transhipped and stored cargo, the release explained.

The investment is to be divided into two phases. The first stage, to be completed in 2023, involves the completion of design and cost-estimate documentation. The second stage, i.e. construction, finishing works and equipment delivery, is planned for 2024-2025/2026.

The integrated border control point will be more than 10,000 sq m in size. The building will house: Veterinary Inspectorate – Border Veterinary Inspectorate in Gdańsk, Veterinary Inspectorate – Border Veterinary Inspectorate in Gdańsk, State Border Sanitary Inspectorate – Border Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Gdynia, Voivodeship Inspectorate of Commercial Quality of Agricultural and Food Articles in Gdańsk, the Pomeranian Voivodeship Inspectorate for Plant Health and Seed Inspection, and the National Fiscal Administration – Chamber of Fiscal Administration in Gdańsk – Customs Branch.

The facility will be commissioned in 2026. The cost of implementation is estimated at around PLN 127 million.
