Grupa Azoty and PŻM with a new agreement

Grupa Azoty and PŻM with a new agreement

Azoty Police Group and Polska Żegluga Morska, operating for and on behalf of Polsteam Shipping Company Ltd, today signed a five-year contract for the transport of phosphate-bearing raw materials from Morocco and Algeria to the sea port in Police. The contract covers around 80% of the total demand for the transport from these countries of phosphate-bearing raw materials used by Grupa Azoty Police to produce compound fertilisers.

– We are continuing our long-standing cooperation with PŻM, an entity which guarantees our company above all flexibility and timeliness of services. Maintaining continuity in the production of compound fertilisers is a priority for us, and deliveries by Polska Żegluga Morska help us achieve this goal, even in times of pandemics and turbulence on the transport market. Under the agreement signed today, Polska Żegluga Morska ensures the availability and accessibility of a wide sea fleet adapted to the Police port – emphasised Mariusz Grab, President of the Management Board of Grupa Azoty Police.

In accordance with the signed agreement, the total value of freight, i.e. sea transport costs, has been estimated at approximately USD 67 million for a period of five years. This value assumes the annual average realization of deliveries at a similar level of volumes transported by Shipowners as last year, with an average rate from the 2021 freightings.

– Another contract concluded between Grupa PŻM and Grupa Azoty Police is a guarantee of employment for vessels on important transport routes for our group. The contract is beneficial for both parties, not only for commercial reasons, but also because it is an example of successful and long-term cooperation. With a large number of vessels managed by PŻM, fully meeting the requirements of the convention, we guarantee that the contract will be carried out as planned and without any interruptions. I very much hope that the cooperation between Grupa PŻM and Grupa Azoty Police in the coming years will go as well as it has so far. This contract signed today is the best proof of that – added Andrzej Wróblewski, General Director of PŻM.

The Polish Steamship Company, under the existing contract, has given priority to Grupa Azoty Police reserving the transport capacity for it in any market situation.
