Gaz-System selects designer for ‘offshore part’ of FSRU project
GAZ-SYSTEM has signed an agreement with Rambøll Danmark A/S for the design of the construction project for the marine infrastructure related to the construction of the FSRU floating terminal.
The subject of the contract is the design of the berth for the floating FSRU terminal together with the offshore section of the gas pipeline, which will be located at the bottom of the Gulf of Gdansk.
– The signing of the contract for the design documentation is an important milestone that brings us closer to obtaining the construction permit for the offshore part of this project,” said Tomasz Stępień, President of the Management Board of GAZ-SYSTEM.
Under the agreement, Rambøll will perform the necessary seabed surveys, environmental inventory, FEED (Front End Engineering Design), construction and detailed design, and obtain the necessary administrative decisions and permits – including the construction permit.
The project involves the construction of a Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) in the Gulf of Gdansk and the creation of infrastructure (a berth with the necessary equipment and an offshore pipeline) to receive the liquefied natural gas delivered by sea, its regasification and injection into the National Transmission System.
The FSRU terminal will be capable of regasification at a level equivalent to approximately 6.1 bcm of gaseous fuel per year. In addition, the possibility of increasing the regasification capacity is assumed – depending on market development and the increase in demand for natural gas in the country and the region.
As part of the FRSU programme, the national transmission system will also be expanded, which will enable efficient distribution of gas from the Gdansk area to customers in Poland and the region. The onshore investments include three sections:
- Kolnik – Gdańsk gas pipeline with a length of approx. 35 km
- Gustorzyn – Wicko gas pipeline, section Gardeja – Kolnik with a length of approx. 86 km
- Gustorzyn – Wicko gas pipeline, Gustorzyn – Gardeja section with a length of approx. 128 km.
- The Kolnik – Gdansk gas pipeline has a construction permit and an approved detailed design. The Gardeja – Kolnik and Gustorzyn – Gardeja gas pipelines, on the other hand, are awaiting the issue of location decisions.
The commissioning of the entire investment is planned for 2027/2028.
