Fire ship ‘Strażak-28’ practices with the Port Fire Department
The firefighting vessel Strażak-28 practised with the Port Fire Department last Thursday. The vessel, built at the Remontowa Shipbuilding SA shipyard, joined the fleet of the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority SA in December last year.
The exercises were aimed at perfecting techniques for making the spillway dam, which is the unit’s equipment; its tactical range is 500 meters, with 40 spans of 12.5 meters each, reports the Port Fire Department.
The Strażak-28, the newest unit of its kind in the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority SA fleet, watches over fire safety in the sea ports of Szczecin, Police and Swinoujscie, and has also been adapted to fight fires on LNG tankers. It measures 29.2 metres in length and 10.47 metres in width. The ship’s structural draft is 3.45 m. It develops a maximum speed of up to 12 knots.
