Equinor and Polenergia give contract for offshore wind foundations for the Bałtyk II and III offshore wind farms

The contracts are for 100 monopile foundations for wind turbines, 50 units for each project. Production of the turbines is planned for mid-2025.

The Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III offshore wind farms are becoming a reality. Most of the main contracts covering both projects have already been secured. This is a huge acceleration in the implementation of our offshore investments and a very important, positive signal for our investors. We have planned to launch 100 wind towers in 2027. Today we are taking a very important step towards making these plans a reality. We have one common goal – using the great potential of renewable energy that lies dormant in our country. Bałtyk projects will implement it, providing green energy to millions of Polish households. This is another proof that today Polenergia is the most dynamically developing energy group in Poland. – dr. Michał Michalski CEO of Polenergia S.A.

Once all the construction elements have been contracted, the necessary permits have been obtained and the final investment decision made, the development phase of the Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III projects will begin. The two wind farms, with a total capacity of 1.44 GW, will be located in the Polish exclusive economic zone of the Baltic Sea, at a distance of about 37 and 22 km from the coastline.

The signing of the final contract for more components for our Bałtyk II and Bałtyk III wind farms brings us closer to the moment of the final investment decision. The wind farms under construction will be among the first in the Polish sea. Their commissioning – planned for 2027 – will significantly strengthen our energy security, providing stable renewable energy for more than 2 million households. – Michał Jerzy Kołodziejczyk Country Manager of Equinor in Poland

SIF Netherlands B.V has global experience in supplying components for offshore wind farms. The contract with SIF Netherlands B.V. is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. The first energy from the Bałtyk II and III wind farms is expected to flow as early as 2027. The commercial phase of their operation is scheduled for 2028.

In the next phase of offshore wind energy development in Poland, Equinor and Polenergia are developing the Bałtyk I project. The offshore wind farm, with a capacity of up to 1560 MW, will be about 80 km from the shore. The projects jointly developed by Equinor and Polenergia are a very important part of Polish energy transition.
