Deepening intergovernmental co-operation in the construction of frigates of the ‘MIECZNIK’ programme

Babcock International Group has announced the signing of a Statement of Intent between the UK Secretary of State for Defence and the Polish Minister of National Defence.

In a release sent to the media, the UK company wrote, among other things:

“We are pleased to announce the signing of a Statement of Intent (SOI) between the Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom and the Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Poland, which expresses the willingness of both parties to deepen intergovernmental cooperation between the two countries on the integration of the UK Arrowhead 140 (AH140) frigate into the Polish MIECZNIK programme. Earlier this year, Babcock was selected as the platform design supplier and technology partner for Poland’s new frigate programme.”

The intergovernmental agreement signed on Tuesday, 4 October provides a solid framework for further cooperation and follows the establishment of Babcock’s official business entity in Poland.

“We are extremely proud of our role in the MIECZNIK programme and the relationships we have with UK and Polish industry, navies and governments. We look forward to continuing to work with our partners in delivering contracts in the MIECZNIK programme.”
