Baltic Pipe opening two days early

Offshore gas pipeline

On Tuesday, Deputy Minister Gróbarczyk announced that the completion and opening of Baltic Pipe would take place on 29 September. It now appears that this will happen even earlier.

The good news is that Baltic Pipe will be ready in the near future. But the better news is that it will even be two days sooner than I presented this morning. The delivery date is 27 September! – informed Deputy Minister Marek Gróbarczyk on Twitter.

As he said, work is underway to prepare first of all the compressor stations, which are expected to deliver nearly 10 billion cubic metres (gas-PP). Together with the LNG in Świnoujście and our own extraction 100 per cent of Poland’s energy security.

Baltic Pipe is to create a new supply route for natural gas from Norway to the Danish and Polish markets and to end users in neighbouring countries. The investors are the transmission operators Danish Energinet and Polish Gaz-System. According to plans, it is expected to reach full capacity at the beginning of 2023. Once operational in October, Baltic Pipe will have a capacity of 2-3 bcm of gas per year. In 2023, the pipeline will reach its maximum capacity, i.e. 10 bcm of gas per year.
