An overhead crane cabin with its operator fell in the Świnoujście port area

“The cabin is on a ramp at a height of about ten metres. No contact with the injured,” Capt Tomasz Kubiak, spokesman for the Regional Fire Service Headquarters in Szczecin, said on Thursday.

In Świnoujście, at Bunkerowa Street, an overhead travelling crane cabin fell down, together with its operator – informed on Thursday the press officer, captain Tomasz Kubiak.

As he informed, “the cabin is located at a height of about ten metres. The operator was crushed by the cabin. There is no contact with the victim. It is also impossible to reach the victim”.

Four fire brigades are operating at the scene. The “Pajak” Specialist Group for High Altitude Rescue from Szczecin has also been dispatched. The operation is complicated by difficult weather conditions.

We regret to inform you that an accident has occurred at the port terminal of OT Port Świnoujście S.A. involving a company employee. The incident occurred on Thursday after 10 p.m. during the unloading of a ship. The crane cabin with the operator fell on the ramp. Four fire brigades and the “Pajak” Specialist Group for High Altitude Rescue from Szczecin are currently carrying out rescue operations.

The Prosecutor’s Office is on site and OT Port Świnoujście S.A. has also appointed a special committee to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Further information will be provided once the rescue operation has been completed.
