Airmen, sailors and Territorial Defence Forces exercise on the Baltic Sea
The military exercise ‘Kormoran-24’ carried out by the Gdynia Naval Aviation Brigade began on Monday. The exercises, conducted in the Southern Baltic, include shooting and search for survivors.
In an interview with the Polish Press Agency (PAP), the press officer of the Naval Aviation Brigade, Capt. mar. Marcin Kołodziejski, informed that the tactical exercise ‘Kormoran-24’ will be carried out in cooperation with the 3rd Flotilla of Ships, the 8th Flotilla of Coastal Defence, the Marine Missile Unit, the 12th Base of Unmanned Aircraft and the 7th Pomeranian Brigade of Territorial Defence.
He explained that the main objective of the exercise, which will run from Monday to Friday in the South Baltic region, will be to perfect the tasks performed by the command posts of the naval aviation bases, harmonising them with subordinate troops, as well as perfecting the aircraft crews in carrying out sea rescue operations.
Among the tasks to be carried out during the exercise are anti-submarine warfare, torpedo dropping, bombing and reconnaissance of the South Baltic region. In addition, the military will conduct exercises in airspace control and surveillance as well as aerial reconnaissance and destruction of surface objects.
– During the exercise, shooting, episodes of recovery of isolated flying personnel, search for survivors on land, landing in adventurous terrain for medical evacuation, single SAR episodes are planned, the press officer explained.
He added that the manoeuvres will be supervised by specialists from the Naval Aviation Brigade Command and command posts at the 43rd and 44th Naval Air Bases.
