Adamczyk: Gdynia port is one of four seaports of fundamental importance to the economy

The Ministry of Infrastructure announced Tuesday’s speech, during the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the Port of Gdynia, by Minister Andrzej Adamczyk. The minister stressed that the Port of Gdynia is one of the four seaports of fundamental importance for our economy.
In a communiqué, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced the participation and speech of the Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk during Tuesday’s ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the Port of Gdynia.
“The decision to build a port in Gdynia taken by the Sejm at the dawn of the Second Republic of Poland has become a great symbol of the reborn state,” – said the minister at the ceremony.
He pointed out that it was neither an easy nor cheap undertaking, but today time acknowledges the courageous and visionary people. “Today, the Port of Gdynia is one of the four seaports of fundamental importance for our national economy”. – Minister Adamczyk assessed.
He emphasised that investments such as the deepening of the approach track and internal basins, the construction of the external port or the already completed construction of the public ferry terminal strengthen the position of the Gdynia port and show its great potential.
He also noted that investments in railway lines make it more possible to transport cargo, as longer and heavier trains reach the quays.
The Port of Gdynia handled a total of 26.7 million tonnes of cargo in 2021, an increase of 8.2 per cent compared to 2020, and the number of commercial ship calls at the port increased by almost 15 per cent over the same period.
The Port of Gdynia is the largest agroport in the Baltic Sea and also ranks third in terms of container handling, with almost 1 million TEUs in 2021.
