Coal in the Port of Gdansk

– From the beginning of the year to October, a total of 8 million tonnes of imported coal were handled at the Port of Gdansk, Anna Drozd, a spokeswoman for the port, told PAP.

As Drozd relayed, between two and ten vessels with coal are received daily at the port of Gdansk.

From the beginning of the year to October we handled a total of 8 million tonnes of imported coal. We estimate that our handling capacity by the end of the year will be an additional 2.7 million tonnes. We are also launching additional quays to accommodate these increased transhipments. These are the quays in the Inner Port,” said Anna Drozd.

She added that around 20 train sets and around 350 coal trucks leave the port daily.

– ‘We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in shifts, so these transshipments are realised on an ongoing basis,’ Drozd stressed.
